Middle East Green Initiative and FAO Sign Letter of Intent to Strengthen Cooperation

The Middle East Green Initiative and the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) signed a Letter of Intent to strengthen technical and scientific cooperation and support member countries through capacity building and the exchange of knowledge, expertise, and advanced agricultural technologies relevant to the Initiative’s objectives.

H.E. Eng. Ibrahim Alturki, Secretary-General of the Middle East Green Initiative (MGI), and Mr. Godfrey Magwenzi, Deputy Director-General of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), signed a Letter of Intent to strengthen cooperation between MGI and FAO during a signing ceremony held at FAO headquarters in Rome, Italy.

The Letter of Intent aims to advance cooperation in areas of mutual interest and leverage the technical and scientific expertise and capabilities of both parties to support MGI member countries. It also seeks to strengthen capacity building and facilitate the exchange of knowledge, expertise, and advanced technologies in agricultural fields relevant to the Initiative’s objectives.

During the visit, H.E. the Secretary-General also held a series of meetings with relevant FAO departments to discuss areas of technical and scientific cooperation, as well as ways to support member countries and benefit from FAO’s expertise and specialized programs in capacity building, knowledge exchange, and the transfer of advanced agricultural technologies.

The signing of the Letter of Intent forms part of MGI’s efforts to expand cooperation with specialized international organizations and strengthen partnerships that support member countries and promote the exchange of expertise and knowledge across the Initiative’s areas of work.
