Middle East Green Initiative and OPEC Fund Sign MoU to Strengthen Cooperation

The Middle East Green Initiative and the OPEC Fund for International Development signed a Memorandum of Understanding to strengthen cooperation and coordination and explore opportunities for joint action in areas of mutual interest, on the sidelines of the OPEC Fund Development Forum 2026 in Vienna.

H.E. Eng. Ibrahim Alturki, Secretary-General of the Middle East Green Initiative (MGI), and H.E. Dr. Abdulhamid Alkhalifa, President of the OPEC Fund for International Development, signed a Memorandum of Understanding on 23 June 2026 to strengthen cooperation between the two organizations. The signing ceremony took place on the sidelines of the OPEC Fund Development Forum 2026 in Vienna.

The Memorandum of Understanding establishes a framework for cooperation between MGI and the OPEC Fund for International Development, supporting closer coordination and the exploration of opportunities for joint action in areas of mutual interest, while contributing to efforts aligned with the Initiative’s objectives.

The MoU forms part of MGI’s efforts to expand its cooperation with international development institutions and strengthen partnerships that support joint action and advance the Initiative’s objectives across its member countries.
